Selai Johor Endau-Rompin Revisit
Recently, I went to Selai Johor Endau-Rompin for Herpetofauna Survey (2nd - 6th September 2006). Four nights herping we managed to collect snakes, frogs, toad and lizards.
There are added records for the Selai Johor Endau-Rompin herpetofauna viz. Reptiles: Lizards (Cosymbotus craspedotus, Lipinia vittigera, Draco maximus, Cyrtodactylus semenanjungensis, Cyrtodactylus consobrinus, Gehyra mutilata, Draco sumatranus, Draco quinquefasciatus ); Snakes (Dendrelaphis caudolineatus, Boiga nigriceps,Boiga cynodon, Trimeresurus popeirum); Amphibians: Anurans (Bufo gollumi, Bufo cf. parvus, Rhacophorus appendiculatus, Rhacophorus reinwardtii, Nyctixalus pictus, Microhyla borneensis, Limnonectes plicatellus, Ansonia endauensis).
There are a few mammals spotted during the night survey viz. Malayan Flying Lemur Cynocephalus variegatus, Slow Loris Nycticebus coucang and Leopard cat. Phamids are also found during this trip such male Heteroptryx dilata, Asceles malaccae, Stheneboea malayana, Plyaemenes mitratus, Lonchodes brevipes and a few others.
Birds also spotted during the daytime survey such Great Hornbill Buceros bicornis Scarlet-rumped Trogon Harpactes duvaucelii, Raffles' Malkoha Phaenicophaeus chlorophaeus, Rufous-tailed Tailorbird Orthotomus sericeus,Hill Myna Gracula religiosa, Magpie Robin Copsychus saularis,Babblers, Bulbuls and many others.
Finally i m managed chit chatting with my old friends after 4 years since the first Scientific Expedition to Selai Johor Endau-Rompin...En. Ramli (is there any 'periuk misteri' ?) and Orang Asli (Jakun's Tribe) viz. Tali, Jasin, Murni, Tipah, Iman, Awang and Sehan. We talked about the late Mr Adli Mansor (Person-in-Charge of Selai) - May his soul rest in perfect peace...
Hope to see all of you in my next visit :)
